This week in My Breastfeeding Era, we meet Hannah, the founder of The Nursing Nighty. After welcoming her second baby and navigating those long, quiet hours of night feeds, she realised there was nothing that truly supported mums when they needed comfort most. So she began sketching ideas between feeds, refining every detail with her newborn in her arms, slowly shaping a nightdress designed for real life at 3am.
What started as a personal need has grown into a thoughtful and much loved breastfeeding essential. Hannah’s story is honest, gentle and rooted in the closeness she has found in feeding both of her boys. Through her own journey, she has created something that helps other mums feel a little more comfortable, a little more cared for and a little more held in those early days.
Number of children?
I have two boys, my eldest is four and my youngest is one.
How long have you been breastfeeding for in total?
48 months and counting. I feel like I have been breastfeeding for almost four years straight. If I was not pregnant, I was feeding. Both journeys have been very different but each incredibly special.
What inspired you to start The Nursing Nighty?
The Nursing Nighty began after my youngest was born. I just could not find anything comfortable or practical for night feeds. Every night over several weeks, I would feed him while jotting down ideas and tweaks on my phone. Fabric choices, zip positions, colours, the fit. I kept refining it until it felt right. Almost a year later, here we are.
What makes your product special for breastfeeding mums?
I truly believe it makes nights a little more comfortable, whether you are breastfeeding or expressing. Every detail has been chosen while I was living the journey myself. The softness of the organic cotton, the double zip access, the relaxed fit and the colour. It is made to be gentle, practical and kind to tired postpartum bodies.
What’s one thing you love about your own breastfeeding journey?
The closeness. That feeling of being so connected to your baby in a way that is completely unique to the two of you. It is something I have cherished with both of my boys.
