Breastfeeding at home: create the ultimate breastfeeding station

Breastfeeding at home: create the ultimate breastfeeding station

When you are breastfeeding at home, creating a cozy breastfeeding station can make these moments more comfortable. Here's how to set up your personal nursing nook:

1. Pick Your Throne

Choose a comfy chair where you can relax during feedings. Add a side table or small bench within arm's reach to hold your essentials. Be careful sitting cross-legged for too long!

2. Hydration Station

Breastfeeding can make you feel like you've crossed a desert. Keep a large water bottle or a pitcher and glass at your station to quench your thirst during nursing sessions.

3. Entertainment Essentials

While bonding with your baby is precious, a feeding session can last for while! Phone or remote control at hand, scroll your insta feed (no pun intended!), convince yourself your little one is having yet another sleep regression on Mumsnet or watch the film you didn't have the energy to finish the night before.

4. Snack Stash

Nursing burns calories and can leave you feeling hungry. Stock your station with nutritious snacks like nuts, granola bars, or chocolate (?) to keep your energy levels up.

5. Supportive Accessories

A nursing pillow can provide comfort and proper positioning for both you and your baby, reducing strain on your arms and back.

6. Additional Essentials

Consider adding these items to your station:

  • Burp cloths: For quick clean-ups.

  • Nursing pads: To manage leaks.

  • Nipple cream: To soothe any soreness.

  • Hand sanitiser or wipes: For quick hand cleaning.

  • Breast Bump/milk storage container: if you are pumping some extra milk

Let’s Hear From You
