The smarter way to collect and store colostrum — before and after birth.
Best for: antenatal colostrum harvesting and early postnatal expressing in a safe, reusable collector
Colostrum — your first milk — is produced in tiny amounts, but it is extraordinarily valuable. Every drop matters. Traditionally collected in single-use plastic syringes, it deserves better than that. The Haakaa Silicone Colostrum Collector is a world-first design: a reusable, medical-grade silicone tube that lets you express and store colostrum safely, whether you're harvesting antenatally in the final weeks of pregnancy or collecting in the early days after birth. It won't leach toxins, goes straight in the fridge or freezer, and comes pre-sterilised and ready to use. Each collector includes its own sticker label — because when every millilitre counts, knowing exactly what's in each tube matters too.
Is this right for you?
Choose this if you're planning to harvest colostrum before your due date, or want a safe, reusable way to collect and store your early milk after birth. The 20ml size suits both antenatal harvesting and postnatal expressing as your milk comes in.
Skip this if you're past the colostrum stage and expressing larger volumes — a breast pump and standard milk storage bags will serve you better from here.
Before you start antenatal expressing
Antenatal colostrum harvesting isn't right for every pregnancy. There is a small risk it can trigger early labour, so please check with your midwife or consultant before you begin — especially if you have a high-risk pregnancy, a history of premature labour, or are carrying multiples. Once you have the go-ahead, most midwives recommend starting from around 36–37 weeks.
Why it works
- ·Medical-grade silicone — no toxins, safe for fridge and freezer storage
- ·Pre-sterilised and ready to use straight from the pack
- ·20ml capacity — suitable for both antenatal harvesting and early postnatal expressing
- ·Reusable — a sustainable alternative to single-use plastic syringes
Why it's a Latchette favourite
Colostrum is liquid gold — and collecting it before your baby arrives means you have a safety net ready if feeding gets off to a bumpy start. The Haakaa collector makes the whole process simpler, cleaner and kinder to the environment than the single-use plastic alternative. One of the most thoughtful things you can add to a hospital bag.
